Indications: Dexamethason-e may be used whenever a parenteral corticosteroid preparation giving a medium duration of activity is indicated. It can be used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic agent in cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, dogs and cats, and for the treatment of primary ketosis in cattle. The product can also be used to induce parturition in cattle. Dexamethason-e is suitable for treatment of acetone anaemia, allergies, arthritis, bursitis, shock and tendovaginitis. |
| Contra-indications |
Unless abortion or early parturition is required, administration of Glucortin-20 during the last trimester of gestation is contra-indicated.
Except in emergency situations, do not use in animals suffering from diabetes, chronic nephritis, renal disease, congestive heart failure and/or osteoporosis.Do not use in case of viral infections during the viraemic stage or in combination with vaccination. |
| Side Effects | A temporary drop in milk production in lactating animals. Polyuria, polydypsia and polyphagia. The immunosuppressant action may weaken resistance to or exacerbate existing infections. When used for induction of parturition in cattle, a high incidence of retained placentae and possible subsequent metritis and/or subfertility may be experienced. Delayed wound healing. |
