Sulfa antibiotics. Sulfamethoxazole competes with dihydrofolate synthase through p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolate, and produces antibacterial effects. Trimethoprim is an antibacterial synergist. By inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase, dihydrofolate cannot be reduced to tetrahydrofolate, which hinders the metabolism and utilization of folic acid by sensitive bacteria. The combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole has a synergistic effect. Sulfamethoxazole is easily absorbed by oral administration, the plasma protein binding rate is low, the acetylation rate is high (50% to 70% for goats), and the effective blood concentration is maintained for a long time. |
